Why Gum Infection Becoming A Burden In Developing Countries

Periodontal disease also known as gum infection and is defined as an infection of the tissues and the bone that support the teeth. Gum infection that is left untreated can become very serious, it causes teeth to become loose and eventually fall out. It is the build up of plaque which is an invisible sticky layer of germs that forms naturally on teeth and gums that causes gum disease to develop. Because plaque contains bacteria that produces toxins is the foremost reason why gums become irritated and inflamed, as well as, damaged. In most populations, gingivitis gum disease is very common. Regular dental check ups are the best bet to keep track of gum health and spot gum disease that s developing. It is by inspecting the tissues around the teeth with a probe and by radiographs to detect bone loss around the teeth is the method on which the dentist diagnose gum disease.
